Opening Act For Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band

I’ve been getting a lot of queries on who is opening for Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band on their current 2009 world tour. The correct answer is no one. To my recollection, Bruce has never had an opening act, at least not since I’ve been seeing him live. My first Bruce concert was in 1992 and I’ll be attending the second night of his New Jersey homecoming at the IZOD center. Even though it carries a different name, it’s the same building where I feverishly watched him & the E-Street Band back in 1999 and barely survived the night.

Springsteen is one of those rare artists that does not need an opening act. More often than not, he’s going to put on a 3-hour show. The band’s energy level is UP from the moment they take the stage. The crowd energy is UP from the moment they take the stage. There is no need to warm up a Springsteen crowd; they are plenty warm when the lights go out.
