Friday's Rockin' Roundup - Traveling Man Edition

Your cousin Ryo is going on a trip. Unfortunately, it’s for business and not pleasure. All next week I will be on the West Coast in San Diego, attending a major convention at which my company is producing one of the conferences being held. I like the travel part. I’ve never been to San Diego and with a little luck I can take in a Padres game and cross another baseball stadium off my list. I also like being on site and watching all of our hard work come together for the live event. What I don’t like is all of the clients that will be there (along with my boss) watching every move we make, eyeing us like hawks, and just waiting to make a negative comment on something. That’s all right though, I don’t plan to give them a thing to complain about.

With that being said, I don’t expect my trip to San Diego will affect The Rock and Roll Guru at all, but I may not be as quick to respond to comments and/or e-mails. Other than that, everything should be business as usual, so keep checking back for the latest rants, raves, commentary, and updates on all your favorite bands and music.

Here’s what rocked this week:

Bob Dylan is hitting the road this summer in support of his latest effort, Together Through Life. He’ll be playing minor league ballparks across America, but he’s also bringing two other acts out on the road with him. Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp. Ticket prices are decent at $67.50, but here’s the best part, children 14 and under get in free with a paying adult. I know, there may not be a lot of kids that are into any of these performers, but it’s still an excellent idea.

Creed is reuniting and insisting that it is not to “cash in.” I don’t believe that at all, but they could prove me wrong by going on tour with ticket prices below $30. Otherwise, I say it was all for the money. It also appears that the Nickelback haters will have their original band to hate again. Creed is the only band that gets slammed more than Nickelback in terms of lacking in the originality and creativity department. Look for Creed on tour this summer.

The Glam Mistress wants you to go golfing with Vince Neil. Seriously. She’s tipped us off to a charity auction being held on Ebay. Here’s her take and her info:

And here’s an interesting little piece about the president meeting the Dead. I wonder if they would give him free tickets to their show?

Actually, I love sushi. If I get the chance to get out on the town, I'm going to have to check it out. Thanks for the tip, Dave.
