Filter In Studio To Record 7th Studio Album - US Tour Dates Announced

Filter announced plans to reenter studio and record their 7th studio album. Richard Patrick will be reunited with producer/mixer Ben Gross (Short Bus, Title of Record, The Amalgamut), and is collaborating on songs with former Filter co-writer Brian Leisgang as well as newcomer guitarist Oumi Kapilia.

Of the new album, Patrick says: “I’m headed in a new direction. More stripped down industrial sound. Keeping things moving but a way more “fuck it” approach. Just like short bus although it won’t sound like short bus bt it will sound like filter.

Filter hits the seas today as a featured artist on the Shiprocked, and embarks on a US tour with Coal Chamber beginning on March 6th; full dates are listed below. To kick off the Coal Chamber tour, the band’s new live video for ‘We Hate it When You Get What You Want’ will premiere with Vevo in March.

Filter will be offering fans a special VIP experience during their upcoming tour with Coal Chamber. It involves an intimate meet and greet with the band as well as exclusive merch items only available to those who participate.

Richard Patrick also announces his work on a new book chronicling his life in Filter, and beyond. Of the book he states: “If people had any idea of what happened to me from my NIN days to now, they’d be shocked. Drugs, betrayal, war, death, crime, music, pain, and drugs.”

Formed in 1993, Filter has had significant success over the past two decades and released their last studio album The Sun Comes Out Tonight in 2013. The album was produced by Bob Marlette (Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie) and written by Richard Patrick and former guitarist Jonny Radtke as well as collaborator Marlette.
