Friday's Rockin' Roundup - Take This Job And Shove It Edition

As most of you regular readers know, cousin Ryo holds a day job to pay the bills, earn money, etc. As much as I would love to make this blog my only source of income, I also would like to eat. Lately, my 9-5 has been taking over my entire life and I don’t like it one bit. Between unrealistic deadlines, red tape processes, low morale, and the ultimate uncaring of the absentee ownership, it’s been a rough couple of months.

Things don’t look to be getting any better in the near future, and while I am in the process of doing the best I can to change my outlook, it’s an arduous process. What this all means is that my job is leaving me exhausted, which is eventually going to affect The Rock And Roll Guru. Hopefully, the effect will be so minor that no one will notice, but it may not. I may end up skipping an entire week of posting without warning due to having a mental breakdown. Or, I may just say to my boss “take this job and shove it, I ain’t working here no more!” in which case I’ll have plenty of time to write, but I might be eating cat food for dinner. I’ll be sure to keep you posted as to where things end up.

Here’s what rocked this week:

Guitar Center’s $1500 Gear Giveaway
Do the holidays get you down? Do you have to buy gifts for everyone, but no one buys you squat? Well, perhaps you need to enter Guitar Centers holiday wishlist and get your shot at $1500 worth of great gear. Your Holiday Wishlist Sweepstakes has Guitar Center offering ten lucky winners a chance to win $1500 in gear from any one of the 214 Guitar Center stores across the country including guitars, amplifiers, drums, keyboards and pro-audio equipment. Starting Friday, October 1st through Sunday, December 12th, individuals can enter by going to and building their wishlist (full details online).

MusicPix Is Worth A Visit
An interesting website that I discovered this week is MusicPix.net. This is a site with concert photos, news, reviews, and interviews. It is a very appealing place to visit. And now they’ve released a mobile app. Musicpix.net is the premiere home for live concert photography on the internet with a massive library of live concert images and is now available for music lovers on the go. An iPad version will be available by mid-October. Music fans can explore live music photos, access up-to-date news, artist interviews and the latest tour information. This one-of-a-kind mobile app features tens of thousands of evergreen and ever-growing professional concert photos. The app allows fans to stay informed via the latest music news and tour information and see imagery of international artists LIVE in concert like never before. Fans can now put down their phone and enjoy the show instead of trying to capture the moment themselves.

Pink Set To Release A Greatest Hits Record
I don’t mean this to sound harsh, but I didn’t realize that Pink has been around long enough to have a greatest hits record. The set *due November 16th) will include two new songs, one titled Raise Your Glass, with the other still being worked on. You can hear the single of Raise Your Glass below.
