Canadian punk-rock band, Sum 41, have joined forces with
PledgeMusic to release their new album direct to their fans and provide them
with a unique music retail experience.
Over the course of the next few months Sum 41 will
pre-sell their album to their fans plus offer them a variety of other unique
and special packages to celebrate their first album in 5 years. The band will also allow fans to have access to special
bonus content, stories and updates on the making of the album as it progresses
and as a reward for pre-ordering their album. PledgeMusic is a pioneering
direct-to-fan platform, which creates a more personal experience between the
fan and the artist.
"Words can't describe how good it feels to be back,
so I'll just let the music do that instead. Sum 41 is back - stronger and more
excited than we have been in a long time. We're really proud of these songs and
we want to make sure our fans know it's coming! It's time to make a fu**ing
great record! Thanks to all the fans! Your support has always been a blessing.
We love you for it, and we can't wait to get back to your country, you city,
your town, or even your backyard to come play a rock show! See you all soon,"
says Deryck Whibley of the new record and PledgeMusic campaign.
Sum 41's career has been filled with highlights that
extend well beyond the traditional 'punk' band. They've collaborated with Iggy
Pop, Ludacris, Tommy Lee, Rob Halford, and Tenacious D, and were invited to
tour with heavy metal legends Motley Crue when they reunited. They were
shockingly close to death while filming a 2005 documentary in war-torn Congo,
and Deryck Whibley was almost deported from the U.S for his political views in
2007. Not to mention, they've sold over 12 million albums and toured the globe
countless times.
Since their inception in 1996, Sum 41 has been
relentless, unapologetic, and unconcerned with musical boundaries. In the past,
their music style has been described as an "eclectic meld of raucous
punk-rock, thunderous heavy metal and straightforward rock."
When fans pre-order the record, they will automatically
get a digital copy on the day of release, and will also have access to all of
the behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the making of the album. They will
be able to hear sneak peaks of songs, watch the band write and record the
record and, "Maybe even get into a fight or two!" says Deryck.
Fans will also have access to exclusive items such as:
Signed CDs and vinyl, a signed exclusive Sum 41 poster, signed drumsticks, a
handwritten lyric sheet, and a private listening party and more.

After fans pre-order, they will see a page that says,
"Help spread the word". This page allows them to share the pre-order
news on their Facebook & Twitter accounts.
"We're incredibly excited to be working with Sum 41
on their forthcoming album. They are an iconic band with tremendous
fan-engagement. It will be a real treat to see this album come to life!" -
