New Music Monday Featuring The Glitch Mob, Memphis Crawl, and Money First

Welcome to another edition of New Music Monday. Cousin Ryo has some excellent selections for you this week to get your feet moving, your hands clapping, and your blood flow circulating. What better way is there to start the week?

The Glitch Mob – We Can Make The World Stop
Up first for this edition of New Music Monday is The Glitch Mob with “We Can Make The World Stop.” This is an incredible dance tune with an amazing beat that you are bound to listen to multiple times. I know that I did. A very catchy tune, “We Can Make The World Stop” will have you looking into The Glitch Mob with much more curiosity.

The Glitch Mob ‘We Can Make The World Stop’

Memphis Crawl – Wildflower Annie
Up next is something a little harder. With a taste of southern rock blended with heavy metal, Memphis Crawl have hit a home run with “Wildflower Annie.” Check out the single below and see for yourself. This is some great rock and roll!

Money First – We Soaring
We close out this edition of New Music Monday with the incredible single, “We Soaring” by Money First. What a fantastic hip-hop tune this is! It reminds me a little of old school DMX, which is a great thing. Hailing from Trenton, New Jersey, Money First is a young and hungry hip-hop group backed by Block Starz Music. I see big things for the future of this group and you will too. Give “We Soaring” a listen!

New Music Monday Featuring Death Blossoms, David Lowery, and Occult Detective Club

Another Monday is upon us. If you’re like me, you’re suffering from post Grammy hangover. Now that the best music of 2010 has been showcased, performed, and awarded, where do we go from here? Well, we can start with some new music from bands that you may not be aware of, but deserve some recognition. That’s what New Music Monday is all about. Here’s some great new music to help get you through your week and prepare you for the weekend (a mere 5 days away). Enjoy!

Death Blossoms – Bass Down Low (Kill Kill Metal Remix)
First up is Death Blossoms with their intense remix of Dev’s Bass Down Low. This superb remix adds heavy industrial metal beats to a club hit. The remix adds some life to the song and helps expand the listening audience to more than just club music lovers. Check it out for yourselves.

David Lowery – The Palace Guards
Next up is the title track from David Lowery’s The Palace Guards (available now). This indie singer/songwriter, of Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker fame, has released his own collection of music that never quite fit the mold for either of those bands. The results are stunning, as you can hear in lead single, The Palace Guards. This is a great introduction to David Lowery, and if you love acoustic, indie, modern folk rock, then you will love this song. A free download is available by clicking the link below. Give it a listen or three!

Occult Detective Club – C’mon Levi
Rounding out this version of New Music Monday is the ferocious single, C’mon Levi, by Occult Detective Club. Rife with punk vibes, hard rocking drums, and an upbeat tempo, C’mon Levi is a phenomenal song that will have your feet stomping, fist pumping, and blood flowing fast. It’s a perfect tune to get you going on a Monday morning. You can download the single for free by clicking on the link below.

New Music Monday Featuring Achren, Jose Carballido, Kai, and Dead Snares

Happy Monday! It’s a new year with an opportunity to really enjoy some new music. For the first 2011 edition of New Music Monday, your cousin Ryo has some great songs for your ears to lust after. Check them out and be sure to let me know what you think!

Achren – Blood Soaked Banner
First up is Achren with Blood Soaked Banner. Achren is a Scottish blood metal band that has some real talent. If you like metal, you’ll love Achren. Their live DVD is out now and their debut album is being released this spring. Formed in 2003, Glasgow based Achren's brand of metal is crushingly heavy and uncompromising. Filled with raw and razor sharp riffs, death metal growls, black metal screams, and pounding drums they create a unique and commandeering sound which over the course of their first two demos and subsequent releases have forged the term 'Blood Metal.' Visit www.achren.com for a free download of their single Blood Soaked Banner. You can also check out www.reverbnation.com/achren to stream some of the bands other songs.

Jose Carballido – Obertura
This showed up in my mailbox last week and I am glad it did! When I got the message explaining that it was a classical choir blended with a progressive rock band, I was curious but uncertain. Then I listened to Obertura and it hit me immediately. What great stuff! This is music like you’ve never heard before. To listen to this great single and more of the album, visit http://www.josecarballido.com/home.html

KAI – I Choose Me
Want to have your foot tapping all day long? Check out this beautiful single from independent pop artist, Kai. The song is I Choose Me and I can’t stop listening to it. Kai’s debut EP is due out soon, so keep your eyes and ears open. You can guarantee that once cousin Ryo gets his hands on the EP, you will know all about it. In the meantime, enjoy this single.

Dead Snares – The Language
We’ll close out this edition of New Music Monday with a video. Dead Snares is a talented band that more people should know about. Their music is flat out incredible. Below is the video for The Language. Talk about cool! The video is wild and the song is ear-licious! Give a watch/listen and see what you think.

New Music Monday Featuring: The Sights, White Noise Sound, and The NUV

Welcome to another edition of New Music Monday, where the music is always enjoyable, always new, and always free. This week The Rock And Roll Guru has some interesting music selections for you.

The Sights – How Do You Sleep
http://www.pavementpr.com/1.mp3s/SIGHTSHowDoYouSleep.mp3

Gritty, raw, and just plain fun, How Do You Sleep by The Sights is rock and roll the right way. Mixing the sounds of Clapton, The Band, and a touch of The Strokes, The Sights are a solid rock band that are fun to listen to. You can download the single of How Do You Sleep for free by clicking on the link above.

White Noise Sound – Sunset
http://www.pavementpr.com/1.mp3s/WNS.Sunset.mp3

Electronic rock and roll that is what White Noise Sound delivers. The first single from their debut album, Sunset, is a hard rocking, ear delight. Filled with a progressive sound of synthesizers meeting keyboards and guitars, White Noise Sound makes all the ingredients combine together into a delectable piece of music. You can download Sunset for free using the link above.

The NUV – Jennifer
Last up for this edition of New Music Monday is The NUV with Jennifer. Hailing all the way from Italy and teaching themselves to sing in English in order to broaden their appeal and fanbase, The NUV are quite an interesting story. However, we all know that the story isn’t enough to make a great band; the talent has to be there as well. With the NUV, they have nothing to worry about. If Jennifer is any indication, this band is loaded with talent. Check out the single below.

New Music Monday - Bruce Kaphan, Devotionals, and Paul Collins

Happy Monday! If your job is beating you down as much as mine has been lately, you may be in need of some great music to change your mood. Today, we’re featuring songs that will inspire, help you meditate, and provide a spring in your step.

Bruce Kaphan – Gleaming Towers (from the album Hybrid)
First up is Gleaming Towers by Bruce Kaphan. This San Francisco Bay area musician is quite a talent and his ability shows on this track. An instrumental (like all of the songs on the album Hybrid where it comes from), Gleaming Towers is mood music to start your day with. No loud guitars here. Gleaming Towers is soft inspiration that would be a perfect complement to watching the sun rise.

You can download Gleaming Towers for free by clicking this link: http://www.pavementpr.com/1.mp3s/BRUCEKAPHANGleamingTowers.mp3

Devotionals – Chest Like Expansive Wings (from the album Devotionals)
Next up is Devotional’s Chest Like Expansive Wings. A hauntingly beautiful song, Chest Like Expansive Wings centers on fantastic acoustic guitar work and a beautiful violin that could bring a tear to the eye. This is another morning inspiration instrumental that would be exceptional for meditation time. Chest Like Expansive Wings is a song that really gets the mind thinking.

New Music Monday - Subrosa Union, Zoe Scott, and Remy Zero

Up first for today’s edition of New Music Monday is Subrosa Union with “6th Street Beauty Queen.” This is an interesting rock song with a unique sound that is hard to compare with anything out there right now. It’s electronic rock at its best! Check them out and enjoy the free single!

6th St. Beauty Queen- SUbrosa Union by artofbroadcast

Female acoustic folk singer Zoe Scott has just released a video for “Black Roses.” This is an amazing song sung with feeling and power. A slow hard rocking ballad, “Black Roses” could be my pick of the fall season.

And finally, here’s Remy Zero with “Til The End.” This is a great, power/pop song that is highly enjoyable. I love lead singer Cinjun Tate’s voice on this song. Power and beauty combined for a perfect vocal.

Remy Zero - 'Til The End by popantipop

Have a happy Monday! Enjoy the free downloads! And if you like what you hear, you should support these artists and buy their albums.

New Music Monday - Free Downloads

It’s time for another edition of New Music Monday. This time The Guru has a couple of great, free downloads for your ears to consume.

Love Darling – This Time
A soft acoustic blend of pop and power, This Time by Love Darling is a smooth enjoyable song that is hard to compare. It is definitely worth downloading and enjoying. I particularly like lead singer Shay Magro’s vocals on this track. They are very sultry and inviting.

LoveDarling ThisTime by AkidaMusic

Downtown/ Union – Keep The Engine Running
This is absolutely phenomenal indie rock. If there is one song that you take the time to download this summer, this is the one it should be. Songs like Keep The Engine Running are what make me continue collecting music.

New Music Monday - Guster and White Arrows

A very funkadelic style of rock, Coming or Going is a great song that gets stuck in your heard and doesn’t leave. The riffs are catchy and the song is just fun. Check it out and feel free to download it.

Coming or Going by artofbroadcast

Next up for this week is Guster. They’re working on the release of a brand new album (their first in four years) and this is the first single, Bad, Bad World. New Music Monday - Covers and Folk Songs

It’s another edition of New Music Monday. This time around we are showcasing some different tunes that you definitely do not hear every day.

First up is 8MM with their cover of Bad Moon Rising. This slowed down version of the CCR classic is actually quite beautiful. If Sheryl Crow teamed up with The Cowboy Junkies, this is what it would sound like. An excellent cover by 8MM.

Next it’s The Jazz Singer by No Kids. A very modern, new wave, jazz feel coats this song and pulls it together. This is fun music worth listening to.

We close today’s edition of New Music Monday with a track from Andy Clockwise, an indie singer/songwriter who is reminiscent of Matt Kearny without the rap. The Casanova (Remember Love) is a beautiful, sweet song and the perfect way to close out the day.
